Council Realignment (CRC) & Sub-committees

  1. Who are the members of the CRC?
  2. What are the sub-committees?
  3. How will the voting be handled when the CRC is ready to make decisions?
  4. Is the voting method fair since councils are different sizes and have different resources and assets?

Who are the members of the CRC?

Board Chairs and CEOs and a few additional board members/volunteers from each council make up our 20 member CRC.

The big challenge is for the CRC and sub-committees to keep their eyes on the big picture.  It’s really tempting to try to make specific operational decisions and significant long range governance and policy decisions, but those belong in the hands of the new board of directors and the new CEO.

How will the voting be handled when the CRC is ready to make decisions?

The CRC and the sub-committees will be using consensus as the primary decision making method.  When consensus is not possible, each council will have one vote.

Is the voting method fair since the councils are different sizes and have different resources and assets?

The idea is that each current council comes to the table as an equal partner in the process. We have faith that the leadership of our councils has the capacity to focus objective eyes on the future.  Once we come together, the priority is building the new council, not preserving our old councils and old ways of work.  The bottom line is “what’s right for the girls?”  When all is said and done, there will be lots of discussion throughout every council.  All of us will be challenged to think out of the box.  All of us will be challenged to identify what really is essential to begin a new council.
